When Hurricane Helene hit, it brought significant challenges to our region. MPF faced a massive obstacle as power and regional internet service was knocked out with no idea of when it would be coming back. Just north of MPF in NC, the area was completed devasted. But in true MPF fashion, our team swiftly rallied to ensure our customers experienced minimal disruption.
Our immediate focus was on keeping operations running despite the blackout. Our contingency planning really helped. We quickly installed five generators to power essential functions, ensuring our equipment remained operational. With power restored through these efforts, our next challenge was logistics—how to continue fulfilling customer orders without missing a beat.
Recognizing the urgency, we assembled a group of highly skilled individuals who meticulously compiled everything needed for production. This included essential products, fixtures, and specialized leak testing equipment. To maintain our production schedule, we coordinated an efficient transfer of additional resources to our sister company, Blue Ridge Optics, located 5 hours away in Bedford, Virginia.
At Blue Ridge Optics, the manufacturing process continued seamlessly. Our team made frequent trips to replenish parts and retrieve finished products. This coordinated effort allowed Blue Ridge Optics to handle the entire manufacturing process while MPF managed all office operations remotely. Together, we navigated this unexpected hurdle, demonstrating the strength of our company.
